Privacy Policy for Vex
Last updated: June 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Vex ("Vex," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Vex mobile application (the "App"). Vex is operated by Robbie Knecht. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information to provide and improve the App:
- Phone number. We use your phone number to create and secure your account, to keep accounts unique, and to send one-time verification codes during sign-up and password reset (delivered via our SMS provider, Twilio).
- Profile information. Your username, display name, profile photo, bio, and optional voice intro that you choose to provide.
- Voice messages and audio. Audio recordings you create and send through the App, including voice messages and your optional voice intro.
- Contacts. If you grant permission, we access the phone numbers in your device's contacts solely to find which of your contacts already use Vex. We match contacts using a one-way comparison of phone numbers and do not store your full contact list.
- Date of birth. We collect your date of birth to verify you meet the minimum age requirement. This is stored privately and is not visible to other users.
- Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store a device token to deliver push notifications.
- Usage and device information. Basic technical information necessary to operate the App, such as device identifiers used for notifications.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create, secure, and manage your account.
- Enable you to send and receive voice messages in one-on-one and group conversations.
- Help you find friends and contacts who use Vex.
- Send verification codes and account-related communications.
- Deliver push notifications you have enabled.
- Maintain safety, including reviewing reports and enforcing our Terms of Service.
